Phin is a spectacular colt that was clearly one of our best in our 2006 foal crop. We were originally going to retain him as one of our top stallion prospects, but we have opted to sell him. He has beautiful form, looks, and movements. He has all the qualities we strive to breed in future sires. He has been slowly improving with his outings and is just a matter of time until he finds his form. Both his parents are very well proven in the show ring. Phin is constantly admired by breeders, spectators, and judges alike due to his qualities. He is always ready for the show, like most Gunner foals, and absolutely loves to show off. He is definitely our most showy colt and we definitely don't mind. He is quite spirited, which is what often goes against his favor when he gets too excited. With time, he will definitely find his balance. He does however, have a great work ethic and loves to please. He doesn't need much encouragement and has great movement. He has a very extended trot with a lot of knee action. He shows potential for the saddleseat classes, although it is way too early to know which one. Due to a blend of his two parents, he will most likely be most competitive in the Country English Pleasure division though. This colt is definitely only going to get better with age. He should definitely be considered by people who want a top young stallion for the three year old futurities. He will need plenty of handling to help him control his bursts of energy. Other than that, he is a superb horse that we can't wait to see grow up and mature.
Phin's sire, Golden Gun is one of our senior sires. He was the very first stallion created by us and thus, has a very special place in our hearts. He is our most showy and spirited stallion and age is definitely not a factor for him. He has had a lot of success both in hand and under saddle. His golden chestnut coat always grabs all the attention. Due to his playful nature, he is always a crowd favorite and just loves the thrill of an excited crowd that claps and screams his nickname, "Gunner." His foals have for the most part inherited his showy and playful nature, beautiful looks, and working attitude. His foals include: GS Golden Thunder (Reserve National Champion), GS Son of a Gun, and Mindolluin OS (World Champion Weanling Colt). He has a small number of foals, all of very high quality.
Phin's dam, Operetta FA, was recently named National Champion English Pleasure Jr. Horse in 2006. Phin is currently her one and only foal and he definitely inherited her National winning trot. She is by the very famous and proven *Centurion and out of a Strike daughter. She was bred by Alex of Foxfire Arabians and is one of our top show mares.
