Well, following in the trend of other farms, we wanted to let everyone know how our farms fared in 2006 (very good we might add). So, this report will give a summary of what has occurred at our three divisions, our ever growing 2007 foal crop, and plans for 2007. So, here it goes.
Oasis Stables, Inc.
Overall, many un-noticed changes occurred in 2006. Oasis Stables went from just Stables to Oasis Stables, Inc. Due to our growing herds, we decided to split the farm into divisions for more organization and to better keep track. So, we now have Encantada Arabians, Tavern Stud, and Oasis Racing Group. All the divisions did really well. Only Tavern Stud was a bit under-represented due to focusing on our Arabians and the AHA circuit. We do hope to dedicate more of our time to Tavern Stud in 2007. All of our homebreds will still carry the OS prefix, only our Thoroughbreds bred for racing will not carry our prefix as we want to keep it realistic. There is much anticipationg for 2007. Here are the breeding plans currently set in stone. We might add more breedings, but for now this is it.
*Malik al Shaqab x April Thunder
After a super succesful year with Athelas OS, we knew we wanted to breed April Thunder again for 2007. When we acquired *Malik, we instantly added him to be bred to April Thunder. Coming from similar bloodlines as Legacy FA (Athelas' sire), we are hoping for something just as good or better than Athelas from this cross.
*Malik al Shaqab x Klasyk Niegrzeczny
To further support *Malik's breeding career, we decided to breed him to Nina. Nina, as many know, is the dam of the recognized young sire, Nostradamus OS, and the top Arabian hunter mare, Toshalesce GS. So far having crossed great with different types of stallions, we think that Nina will be a strong foundation for *Malik. We highly anticipate this foal.
Eurocrat OS x Aurora Springs
After selling our first Aurora Springs daughter to Alex, we were sure we wanted to breed Aurora for a foal to retain at Oasis. To have something 'new' to showcase of our very succesful freshman sire, Eurocrat OS, we decided to cross these two. We think this cross is going to be magical and well, everyone will have to wait until we announce this very special foal to HF.
*Prorok x Hideaway (Trakehner)
Wanting to cross our flagship sire, *Prorok, with a Trakehner we opted to cross him to our lovely Hideaway. This will be *Prorok's first half arabian foal and we anxiously await it. With *Prorok's beauty and movement with Hideaway's elasticity and bloodlines, we are hoping for a dressage horse supreme. Yay!
Rosmel's Supreme Being (Welsh Pony) x *Belizaeuropa
Another half arabian, we primarily purchased the cute Supreme Being to produce even cuter Welsh/Arabian crosses. Being has been a wonderful pony to show and be around with, so we hope his foals are just as even tempered and trainable. We are hoping for something with color, looks, and movement.
SS North Star (QH) x Khazy Bey
Well, we publicly announced our search for a QH stallion to cross with our woking western mare, Khazy Bey. North Star fit our search to the bill and we are hoping for a superb working western Quarab. We are quite excited with this foal and can't wait to meet him/her!
Rosmel's Supreme Being (Welsh Arab) x SR Dancing Spirit
Yeah, this breeding came across to me a few nights ago. Supreme Being has shown us to be quite the jumper/pleasure hunter and well, Dancing Spirit needs no introduction in the Arabian AHA Circuit. We are hoping for a smokey black from this cross that will eventually be just as a winner in the AHA, SJA, and/or Hunter circuit.
*Toshkhara x *Escapade
Now, this is the foal that we are most anxiously awaiting like a kid awaits Christmas morning. Our newest import and most beloved stallion was bred to our most prized broodmare, we are hoping for something way out of this world. This cross is the cross of two of our dearest created horses and we know it will be sensational. *Escapade, as we all know, has crossed superbly with our herd sire *Prorok. She also gave us the recent National Champion Two Year Old Filly, Estancia OS, with *Centurion. We now hope that just as much, if not more, success comes from crossing her with *Tosh.
Tall Tellin' x Trappings of Love
This foal will be our first Thoroughbred homebred to be raced once it turns two years old. Trappings has primarily been used as a surrogate at Oasis, but we discovered that her bloodlines were quite capable of producing a quality racer and thus we booked her to the recently retired Tall Tellin'. Sired by one of our favorite stallions, Thunder Gulch, Tall Tellin' was offered to the public and we literally jumped to book Trappings. We are definitely hoping a good quality foal that is capable of racing. We know neither Tall Tellin' nor Trappings will disapoint us.
So far, 4 purebreds, 4 half Arabians, and 1 Thoroughbred are in the process. More will most likely be added to this list, but no promises. Now is the time to let me know if you would like to see a specific cross or might be interested in any of the above breedings. All of these foals, excluding the Tall Tellin' x Trappings of Love foal, have their stats already made up. But, if we work out a deal, you can definitely make that up yourself. Like it is a small crop, these crosses are crosses we would really like to retain, but we never say no to a deal unless we REALLY want to keep the foal.
Encantada Arabians
Well, like our main focus and largest herd is that of our Arabians, we will write the summary of EA first. What a year it has been for our Arabians this year. With precocious yearlings and talent still left in our seniors, we have definitely experienced an all time high that we hope won't end any time soon. Aside from our succesful showings, we are planning on wetting our feet in the WWHA with some of our more talented Arabians in Reining and Cutting, if time allows it. Anyways, here are some of our highlights!!!
2006 AHA Sport Horse Nationals
At the '06 SH Nationals, we accomplished a feat that never crossed our minds to ever accomplish. We bred and still owned the National Champion Sport Horse Colt and Filly! Both sired by OS stallions to top it off. The lovely Anduril OS (Eurocrat OS x *Acapulco) is out of Eurocrat's first foal crop and has really boosted his sire's success. Agnieszka OS (*Prorok x LL Atalanta) is the first of many crosses of *Prorok and *Pyralus which she has proven will be as succesful as Chay and I had hoped it would be.
Aside from this amazing feat, we had quite the group of winners, reserves, and top tens.
2006 AHA Nationals
Our lovely Arabians and Half Arabians really wowed the judges, crowd, and us alike at the Nationals. Beginning with our Yearling Filly, WA Ellana, taking the win in her age division, the Oasis herd went from eye popping performance to eye popping performance. We seriously think our group did amazing and we are extremely proud of all of their perfomances.
We had a lot of top performances, but we would like to point out a few spectacular individuals that stood out in our minds during the year.
Athelas OS+
Athelas really impressed us the moment he began his training and has yet to let us down. Winning Regional after International Show after Regional, Athelas was definitely one of the most dominating yearlings the division has seen in quite some time. After a superb win at Aachen in the All Nations Cup, Athelas began 'maturing' and his precocious previous outings were far better than his post Aachen shows. Even after this, we still know Athelas is still very promising and we know once he gets himself leveled again, he will continue his dominating performances.
Anduril OS+
Being a bit overshadowed by the lovely Athelas all year, Andy definitely took the spotlight at the SH Nationals and has demanded to retain it. Andy seems to have liked the taste of victory and has definitely improved tenfold from his earlier showings. He has filled in quite nicely and is much more comfortable in the show ring than earlier in the year. Andy has just been sensational and has really been a great example of both his parents' reproducing skills.
Taxman DS
Not being shown as often or as long as some of our other colts, Taxman was purchased from Alex with the main objective as racing him in the Arabian races in 2007. Showing lots of pizazz and conformation for the halter classes, we decided it couldn't hurt to show him in 2006. Taxman really proved that he had what it takes to show with the best colts of two years by constantly taking reserve and even winning the division at Salon! Now, being backed to begin racing in 2007, Taxman is showing he was definitely bred to race with amazing trainability yet having that bullish temperament to fend for himself in a race.
WA Ellana+
This gorgeous daughter of WA Enchanted Echo was bought as a young weanling from a 2005 WA auction. We saw lots of potential under her fuzzy coat and we knew we wanted her at Oasis. Ellana definitely did not disappoint with a superb year in 2006. Ellana is royally bred and we know she will be a mare to be remembered through the ages. She has the looks, beauty, conformation, gaits, and temperament to help her get there. We are SO SO SO glad we obtained this one of a kind filly and hope for much more success with this gal.
Epika
This super special filly was given to me by Alex for my birthday. A spectacular specimen with amazing RL parents, Epika definitely shown a spark of her potential this year. We wanted to mention her because she holds a very special place in our heart. This filly is only going to get better as she ages and will be unstoppable once she really finds herself.
*Acapulco+
This mare has just been a dream to own. Already being in HF for a year, once imported we bred her to Eurocrat and she gave us the sensational Anduril OS+. Aside from her success as a breeding mare, *Acapulco brought home the National Champion Junior Mare at AHA Nationals. This mare has been everything we were hoping she would be and more. We are extremely happy in our decision to purchase and import her. She has not disappointed us!
Karmina+
Having experienced yet another succesful year, Karmina proves to us day after day of how beauty and talent can blend so perfectly into one. Karmina is still very consistent in her outings, yet we have decided this beloved mare has done much and we have opted to retiring her at the end of 2007. The original plan was to retire her at the end of this year, but we thought she might enjoy one more year.
SR Dancing Spirit+
Having brought home yet another National win, this time in the Regular Working Hunters, Spirit has done everything we aimed for her to do in HF. Having already garnered many wins prior to coming to HF, Spirit is now ready to call it a day and enjoy the luscious life of a broodmare. She has been bred to our Welsh Pony, Supreme Being for a January foal which we anxiously await.
Toshalesce GS+/
We just HAD to mention this freak mare. What *Escapade has been for us as a broodmare, Daisy has been for us in the show ring. From victory to victory, Daisy has wowed both halter spectators and reining/western pleasure spectators alike. Winning Supreme Champion Mare and even Supreme Champion of Show at International Shows to winning multiple National Championships in Reining and Western Pleasure at the AHA Nationals, Daisy has definitely marked herself in the record books to be remembered for a long time. Daughter of our recent import, *Toshkhara, Daisy is definitely her sire's daughter showing his same showiness, beauty, and talent in the show ring both as reiners and halter horses. And to think that this mare is just a young five year old mare! Daisy will be focusing solely on her reining career in 2007 and trying out the WWHA shows to see how she fares against the more demanding Open circuit.
WA Conscious++
Another WA bred that we just had to mention, Conscious is our Saddleseat superstar. Although we aren't much fans of Saddleseat, we acquired Conscious to still have a small group of Arabians in those classes. This young mare was then just a superstar undercover. This mare really blossomed in 2005 and continued her winning ways in 2006. After looking at her bloodlines, it really comes as no surprise. She has some of the best WA bloodlines and she was more destined than lucky to be as succesful as she has become. Like we don't breed Saddleseat horses, we have yet to use Conscious. So, if interested in breeding (through ET) this mare for a Saddleseat foal, just let us know and we can work out a deal!
Eurocrat OS+
Eurocrat has had a phenomenal year as a sire in 2006. His first foals hit the show ring and they arrived with a celebration. With only four foals showing, all four were consistently in the placings with the star most definitely being Anduril OS+, an amazing colt who has already garnered his Legion of Honour and soon his next Legion. Eurocrat will have a few more select mares bred to him in 2007 as he focuses more on his reining career. He will be joining Toshalesce GS in the WWHA Open circuit to really test his true reining skills.
